How can you reset a GCU?
Turn generator off then back on
What does the GCU do?
Monitors voltage, frequency, and current output. Removes if out of parameters.
Pressing the RAM Air switch to in, does what?
Overrides the L pack and R pack valves, closing them. RAM air pressure will open RAM air check valve. (Pack switches illum. off)
What does pressing the auto temp select switch to in do?
Disables temp display switch and displays selected zone temperatures
What does pressing the auto temp select switch to off (legend extinguished)?
Allows cockpit control of temperature selection
What does the bus power control units do?
Monitor and protect the external power sources and provide under voltage protection for the ESS. AC Bus, left and right main DC buses
What unique function does the left BPCU do?
No break power transfer
You have a perfectly operating airplane until the point an engine fails. The APR is not running. will you get a no break power transfer?
No
What may cause the AC legend of the AC/DC reset switch to illuminate?

Fault in main AC BUS or ESS. AC, logic fault in a BPCU, relay, or component failure
What does pressing the AC/DC reset switch do?
Resets a lockout, allows tripped contactors to close if fault no longer exists.
During normal operation, where does the essential AC bus receive its power?
Left main AC bus
During normal operation, the left main AC bus supplies power to the essential AC BUS. If the left main AC bus fails, where does the essential AC bus receive its power?
Right main AC bus
The left and right main AC bus is not powered. How does the essential AC bus receive its power?
From the emergency inverter from left or right essential DC bus.
What is the KVA rating of the HMG?
10 KVA
What monitors the HMG voltage and frequency and load?
Its own dedicated GCU
How can you reset the HMG?
Turning the standby electrical power off then back to on
You have experienced dual generator failure and the APU is not operating. What is powered when you press just the standby electrical power switch to on?
Left and right standby buses and the aux TRU
You have experienced dual generator failure and the APU is not operating. With the e-inv switch in "auto", what is powering the ess. AC bus?
Left or right essential DC bus through the emergency inverter
You are on the ground. The "ext pwr" capsule is illuminated "avail". What does this mean?
AC or DC external power is available
You are on the ground. The "ext pwr" capsule is illuminated "avail". You wish to use it and press the "on/avail" capsule. What will this capsule annunciate after you press it?
It will extinguish
What will pressing the "L bus tie" switch to the "ISLN" postion do?
Isolate the L main AC bus from lower priority AC sources
What will pressing the "L bus tie" switch to the "auto" postion do?
L AC bus can receive power power as a function of priority. IDGS, APU, and external AC in that order.
What does the "L main TRU" switch do when depressed?
Left main TRU is powered by the right AC bus
When does the "gnd svc bus" capsule on the electrical power panel indicate when it is illuminated?
Ground service bus is powered by external power or the right main aircraft battery
The aux TRU normally receives its power from what bus?
Left main AC bus
The aux TRU normally receives its power from the left main AC bus. Where will it receive its power if the left main AC bus fails?
Right main AC bus
If the aux TRU Is not being powered by the HMG, what bus will it automatically power if the left main DC and right essential bus loses power?
Right essential DC bus. Priority is left essential, right essential, left main, then right main DC buses.
What is the aux TRU output supply priority when the HMG is not operating?
Priority is left essential, right essential, left main, then right main DC buses.
The aux TRU is normally powered by the left main AC bus, and if that fails, the right main AC bus. If the right main AC bus fails, what other source can we use to power the aux TRU?
HMG
What is the amp-hour rating of the main aircraft battery?
53 Amp Hours
Assuming a fully charged battery, how long will it last if the battery ammeter indicates a minus 26 amps?
A little over an hour
The battery charger, when operating in the TR mode can provide 28VDC power up to 50 amps. The battery capsule light will illuminate when the charger is operating in the TR mode. What three situations is the charger in the TR mode?
APU start, aux pump operation, left and right essential buses are receiving power from the main batteries
Name some conditions where the battery charger will shut down and illuminate the "chgr fail" message on the CAS?
Battery connector disconnected, over or under voltage, over current, over temperature, loss of input power
When using the standby electrical power system, what limitation must we observe when using the speedbrakes?
May be used provided we operate them slowly, i.e. three seconds for full range movement
Should we operate the HMG when normal AC POWER is available? (except for left or right ess DC bus failure)
No
Are the emergency power system battery packs interchangeable?
Yes
What is the emergency power system's battery ratings? (volts and amp-hour rating)
24 VDC, 9 amp-hour
The emergency power battery pack charger operates in two modes. what are they?
Charger mode and the transformer rectifier mode
The emergency power battery pack charger operates in two modes, the charger and TR mode. What is the function of the charger mode?
Recharge the emergency battery packs
The emergency power battery pack charger operates in two modes, the charger and TR mode. What is the function of the TR mode?
Provide 14 amp, 24VDC to the emergency power system when power to the essential DC bus is lost.
Illumination of the "on" capsule on the emergency power panel indicates what?
The emergency power battery packs are supplying power to the left and right essential, and essential flight instrument buses
Depressing the "arm" switch capsule on the emergency power panel does what?
Arms the emergency power battery pack and allows automatic switching to epbp power when the essential DC bus drops below 20VDC. Will also extinguish the "arm" and "off" amber switch legends
When the arm switch on the emergency power panel is set to arm, when will the emergency power battery packs automatically come on?
When power to the essential DC buses drop below 20VDC
The off switch on the emergency power panel on the POP, will turn off the emergency power battery packs if there is more than ____ volts on the _______ DC bus.
20 VDC, essential DC bus
During normal operation when the engine IDG's or APU are running, where does the ground service bus receive its power?
Right main DC bus
What is the power source priority of the ground service bus?
Right main DC bus, external DC power, right main battery
When the WOW system is in the air mode, what is the only source of power to the ground service bus?
Right main DC bus
To prevent the right main battery from being depleted when a ground service bus switch is inadvertently left on (right main dc bus not receiving power), what doors must be closed to automatically de-energize the ground service bus?
